Graduation: Class of 2013!
The final Basic Training Class was held on April 4, 2013. The graduation picnic was held at Chimborazo Park in Richmond. The park is the site of a project initiated by several Riverine Master Naturalists and Richmond Tree Stewards. Jan, Class of 2013, gave a tour of the park and, with fellow leader Heather, spoke about the history of the area. They shared details of their project to plant blueberries and other edible fruit on a hillside there, which will not only improve and enhance the park, but stem erosion and support local wildlife.
Scott, another class member, initiated the Cannon Creek Greenway project to remove invasive vines along the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike where a paved bike path is being constructed by the City.
Members of our newest class are very positive about the quality of the their VMN training and full of enthusiasm. The Riverines give a warm welcome to our newest members!
